Founded in 1985, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month aims to increase awareness of the disease (obviously) and to raise money for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. What started as a small event has transformed over the years into a huge movement, with events, fundraisers, and activities taking place around the world.[spacer height=”20px”]
Many brands have embraced the movement as well. The National Football League is one well-known example, as is Yoplait. In 2010, Mark Leisher Productions was proud to work with Under Armour on their breast cancer awareness initiative, Power in Pink. The Power in Pink movement collects and shares stories from breast cancer survivors. Every year, they choose three women to be their Power in Pink ambassadors. These fighters are featured in national advertising campaigns, get an all-expenses-paid trip to Under Armour headquarters, and receive $5000 for the breast cancer charity of their choice. Under Armour’s Power in Pink program celebrates the women who use fitness and exercise in their fight against breast cancer. The goal of the program is to open a dialogue about the importance of maintaining a balanced health and wellness lifestyle in order to help fight this pernicious disease. Under Armour partners with non-profit organizations, high schools, and colleges around the country, and also sells an exclusive line of “Power in Pink” high-performance gear.[spacer height=”20px”]
2013 marks Power in Pink’s eleventh year. We are proud to have worked with Under Armour on this long-running campaign – be sure to watch the 2010 promo below, and take a look at their Power in Pink page. It will inspire you.[spacer height=”20px”]
