Lion Laborers: A Potomac NonProfit Working to Benefit Haiti

Lion Laborers started as a school community service group based out of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. It’s founder, Ethan Lockshin, was inspired to create the group after a community service trip to Chicago in 2012. He and co-founder Sean Hess created Lion Laborers to provide service-based work around the community in exchange for donations for St. Andrew’s partnership school in Civol, Haiti. In their first four months, they earned $1,000 from 7 jobs.

Lockshin and Hess are both adamant about the importance of the work they do. Not only are they raising money for underprivileged children in Haiti, but they’re encouraging students to participate in community service and learn valuable skills while doing so. The group has also helped foster a sense of community in St. Andrew’s students, teachers, parents, and alumni. They wanted to create a video that shared their story, successes, and goals for the future. Conducting in-person interviews and capturing footage of the students at work, MLP paired that with captured footage from a class trip to Haiti to create a video that shares their goals and good work, and emphasizes the need for continued community involvement.

Lion Laborers are a group of hard-working kids with a great mission: to create a group of young men and women that people can rely on for assistance, while simultaneously raising funds for other students less fortunate than our pride. You can learn more about them on their Facebook page.
